Our IBCLC Interns
Karin Tang, BS, CBS
Karin knew that she wanted to become a lactation consultant after becoming a mom. While her late daughter Leila awaited surgery for her congenital heart defect, Karin exclusively pumped. She felt so much pride in providing milk for her baby while navigating an atypical start to motherhood.
Karin is eager to support families as they navigate breastfeeding challenges, especially other post NICU and loss families. She is working towards becoming a IBCLC and hopes to one day serve her Dallas, TX community.
Sara Bridgewater, MPH
Sara’s interest in becoming a lactation consultant began after breastfeeding her first son, and has grown through her experience with all three of her children. With a background in Public Health, she is now in the final stages of her PhD, where her research focused on breastfeeding in rural areas. A major finding of her study was the overwhelming need for better access to lactation care. This realization has driven her even more to pursue her IBCLC certification.
Sara is excited to support families in her community, especially in rural Missouri, where lactation services are scarce or unavailable. She looks forward to making a positive difference for mothers and families in her area.
